Aurora Borealis

Aurorae displays can be seen from almost any where, but are most common in the northern latitudes. They are commonly referred to as "The Northern Lights". These beautiful displays show many different colors including, orange, reds, greens and yellows. Aurora are caused by charged particles from the sun entering the earth's atmosphere. Interaction occurs with gas in the earth's atmosphered creating spectacular displays of light. This image was taken in West Virginia.
