Horsehead and Flame Nebulas

This region of the sky is part of one of the most well known and beautiful constellations. The bright star in the above image is Alnitak, part of the belt of Orion. The constellation Orion is one of the most recognizable asterisms and has been known about and written about for thousands of years. In the Bible, God asks Job in chapter 38 verse 31, "Can you loose the cords of Orion?" This grouping of stars lies about 1600 light years from earth and displays beautiful color in this film image.
